The six-time Major winner's first design in Turkey forms the centrepiece of the resort, extending through a wonderful pine-clad sandy site. A broad dune ridge runs right through the centre of the property and forms a major feature on a majority of the holes. The layout has three combinable nines - King, Queen and Prince, each including several spectacularly elevated tees. • Tat Golf International
Martin Hawtree (1997)
One of the finest realisation of British architect Martin Hawtree, the layout has maintained the natural character of this splendid estate extending on sand dunes and through lush pine groves, right on the shores of the Mediterranean. Many of the elevated tees are place on small mounds, providing sweeping views over the forested dunes, the Mediterranean and the snow capped summits of the Taurus mountain range in the distance. They also provide players with good views of hazards to come.
• National Golf Club
David Feherty & David Jones (1994)
Inaugurated in 1994, the National Golf Club was the first international standard golf complex on the Turkish Riviera. In spite of its young age, it has already won international recognition and played host to the PGA Europe Seniors Turkish Open in 1996 and 1997, as well as being ranked amongst the Top 50 Courses in Continental Europe by British golf magazine Golf World. Designed by Ryder Cup player David Feherty, with the leading consultancy of senior player David Jones, the Championship Course is set amidst lush forest of umbrellas pines and eucalyptus and there is an abundance of natural water hazards which have created four beautiful lakes.
• Antalya Golf Club
European Golf Design & David Jones
- The Pasha (2002)
This resort style course has been carved out of an eucalyptus and pine forest. Towering umbrella pines, crystal clear lakes and the snow capped summits of the Taurus Mountains in the distance provide a spectacular backdrop to the course as it winds it's way through the forest of Belek, the peaceful surroundings interrupted only by the call of birds.
- The Sultan (2003)
Created for the discerning golfer and to play host to international tournaments, The Sultan delivers a stern but rewarding test of golfing ability that any keen player will relish. A true yardstick by which to gauge one’s skill.. European Golf Design and David Jones spared nothing to maintain the competitive level of the course, while at the same time blending it seamlessly into the forest environment - as its sister course The Pasha, it has been carved out of an eucalyptus and pine forest.
• Kaya Eagles Golf
David Jones (2007)
Kaya Eagles was five years under construction before former European Tour pro David Jones completed the job in 2007. When it finally opened, draped around eight sizeable water hazards and set amid clusters of mature pine trees, this layout turned out to be very attractive, with numerous exciting holes that interact pleasingly with the eye only to take its toll on the scorecard !
• Carya Golf
Peter Thomson, Perrett & Lobb (2008)
A little bit of Surrey can be found in Belek thanks to the Australian course designer Peter Thomson. By deploying nearly a million heather sprigs throughout Carya, which opened in October 2008, the five-time British Open champion has produced a course radically different from others in the east Mediterranean. Naturally cultivated in specially constructed greenhouses at a neighbouring nursery, the heather has helped to create an authentic heathland layout in the heart of the Turkish Riviera. The heather is flourishing on the sandy soil and has been planted extensively, in particular on top of and around the course’s 75 bunkers.
• Sueno Golf Club
Bob Hunt, PGA Design Consulting (2007)
- Dunes Course
With sweeping dunes, strategic challenges and picturesque views, this course sets a new standard for the game in Turkey. The Dunes makes use of the natural sand features and reflects the links traditions of course design and construction. Its blend of spectacular views, island greens and waste bunkers has blessed the Dunes with a truly special environment.
- Pines courses
Longer, narrower and generally harder than the Dunes, the Pines presents a serious challenge to low-handicap players and PGA professionals from the back tees, but also a fair test for us mere mortals from the more forward tees. It has all the attributes of a potential European Tour venue. The Pines is heavily wooded with mature trees which provide a stunning backdrop to the fairways and greens.
• Faldo Championship Course
Nick Faldo (2007) 27 Holes
The six-time Major winner's first design in Turkey forms the centrepiece of the resort, extending through a wonderful pine-clad sandy site. A broad dune ridge runs right through the centre of the property and forms a major feature on a majority of the holes. The layout has three combinable nines - King, Queen and Prince, each including several spectacularly elevated tees. Faldo has applied a "thinking man's approach" and "memorability factor" to his design so that a round at Cornelia will linger for long in the memory.
• Montgomerie Golf Club
Colin Montgomerie (2008)
Laid out by eight times European No 1 Colin Montgomerie, the 18-hole course he has laid out in conjunction with European Golf Design is already attracting rave reviews. It is certainly exciting to play, both visually and as a test of golf. The Montgomerie has been carefully shaped to blend naturally with both its indigenous trees and age-old sandy ridges, features which contribute greatly to the variety of strategic options presented from every tee.
• Gloria Golf Resort
- Old Course | Michel Gayon (1997)
Designed by reputed French architect Michel Gayon, under the supervision of Belgian golf project management company JNC International and Turkish consultants, the course blends perfectly with its natural surroundings. Extending through lush pine groves, the layout is doted with deep bunkers and seven large lakes, acting as reservoirs to irrigate the course.
- New Course | Michel Gayon (2005)
Set in 700.000 m2 of Pine trees and with 4 large lakes and with 67 bunkers the New Course is a worthy sister to the Old Course. The signature 17th hole is modeled on the 17th at The TPC Sawgrass.
- Academy Course | Michel Gayon (2001) 9 holes
• Nobilis Golf Club
Dave Thomas (1998)
This splendid championship course weaves its way through a lush pine grove on the banks of the Acisu River. The ever present tall pines lining the fairways and strategically placed water hazards call for precision, in particular for the second shot. Nevertheless, most of these hazards are not frontal and always clearly visible. The large and fast greens are heavily defended by deep bunkers - a Dave Thomas trademark, and offer many pin positions.
• Lykia Links
Perry Dye (2007)
Perry Dye – son of legendary Pete Dye – designed this Turkish delight of a Links course that lies within the sprawling Lykia Estate in Turkey’s Antalya region. It’s yet another in a line of fabulous 18-hole layouts to emerge from the Belek tourist area, one of Europe’s most vibrant golfing hot spots. Actually, the course sits a little bit away from the eastern end of the “Belek golf strip”, beside a river estuary that runs into the Mediterranean, and it’s laid out over a classic links landscape, complete with natural sand dunes and rumpled fairways – ideal terrain for the first links course in the country.
Belek & Antalya
Situated directly on the Gulf of Antalya (Antalya Körfezi), this quickly growing epicentre of both ancient history and thoroughly modern Turkish culture has, since the 1960s, become known as a gateway city for the country’s so-called ‘Turkish Riviera’. Over the past decade sun-worshippers heading to nearby Mediterranean resorts have been laying over in Antalya in such great numbers that the hotel industry has experienced astounding growth of its own.
It isn’t difficult to discern why: The preserved Roman-Ottoman quarter of Kaleiçi commands a heart-stopping view of the Beydağları (Bey Mountains), as well as the Roman harbour at Kaleiçi’s base and the refreshingly clean body of water in between. And although its populace hasn’t yet reached the level of urban sophistication found in İstanbul or Ankara, life here nonetheless pushes forward at a remarkably modern clip. Antalya lays claim to some of Turkey’s finest restaurants, one of its most impressive archaeological museums, and some of its best-preserved Ottoman architecture.
The Belek region on the Mediterranean coast is located 30 kilometers on the east side of Antalya province. Recently it was chosen by the Ministry Of Culture and Tourism to be a tourism model not just for today's tourist, but also for the tourist of the future. A truly paradise for tourists on the shore of the Mediterranean in the midst of its own pine forests. Belek's natural beauty was discovered in 1984 and the region was proclaimed the "Belek Tourism Center". In later years, Belek became what it is today, a paradise on earth, thanks to cooperation between the Belek Tourism Investors Association and the Ministry Of Culture and Tourism.
The region boasts 47 four or five-stars hotels and first-class holiday villages and over fifteen golf courses. All of the facilities that have been designated first-class provide an ideal atmosphere for families and meticulously offer many opportunities and services aimed at pleasing their guests. All the facilities offer floodlit tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, completely equipped health and fitness centers, play areas and many more possibilities.
