Vanajanlinna is Finland’s only Country House hotel and is set amidst a beautiful lakeside estate on the southern outskirts of Hämeenlinna. At the heart of the resort is an alluring 1920’s Castle and a championship golf course, Linna Golf, a member of the prestigious PGA European Tour Courses Group. The historic estate of Vanajanlinna is located in mature pine and birch forest on the shore of Lake Katumajärvi. This expansive property extends outwards from the Vanajanlinna Castle, once the private hunting lodge of the Rosenlews, one of Finland’s wealthiest aristocratic families. Hotel guests are accommodated in the historic Castle, the modern Ratsula Wing, and the Ratsula Houses, In 2007, Linna Golf opened a magnificent new clubhouse, close to the main Castle, and housing 18 luxury Grand and Club golf suites and apartments.
Linna Golf’s renowned championship golf course was designed by Australian architect Tim Lobb and European Golf Design. Linna Golf was specially designed to host top-class professional events and has already hosted the Finnish Open in 2007 and the European Amateur Championships in 2010. In midsummer, visitors to Linna can enjoy the unique experience of playing midnight golf as the region enjoys sunlight long into the early hours. A PGA European Tour Courses Ltd. venue, the course at Vanajanlinna was designed by Tim Lobb from European Golf Design, a reputed firm which has planned several awarded golf courses across Europe, such as the PGA Golf de Catalunya (Spain), the Faldo Course in Berlin (Germany) and the O'Meara course at Carton House (Ireland).
The venue has proven itself a valuable and popular addition to European Tour Properties, successfully hosting the SK Golf Challenge on the European Challenge Tour in 2009 and the 2011 Finnish PGA Championship. With warm summers and long daylight hours, Linna Golf enables visitors to play late into the night. Weaving its way through pine forests and rocky outcrops, the golf course makes full use of the beautiful natural terrain and has firmly established itself as one of continental Europe’s best new courses, achieving inclusion in Golf World Magazine’s Top 100 European Ranking.

Tawast Golf & Country Club takes its name from "Tavastehus", the name of Hameenlinna in Swedish. Tawast's course wind its way between mature trees in lush natural surroundings and as much as ten out of the eighteen holes are situated close to the shore. Classical components of the Finnish landscape, such as lake, forest and meadow have been taken into careful consideration when planning the course. In addition, a number of artificial hazards including bunkers and ponds have been added to define the holes and add difficulties to the challenge.

The Aulanko Nature Reserve, established in 1930 is controlled by the National Board of Forestry and in the course of time, the area has developed into an icon for forested countryside in Finland. National Urban Park of Hämeenlinna, including the Park Forest, and the personal history of Colonel Hugo Standertskjöld, the founder of the park.

The new golf course at Aulanko was inagurated in 2006. A beautiful and well-conditioned park style course on the shores of Vanajavesi, with massive oak and basswood trees adding challenge.
Finland's oldest town (founded in 1639), Hameenlinna (Tavastehus in Swedish) is the administrative and cultural centre of the province of Etela (Southern Finland), as well as an important junction network and touristic destination. Birthplace of Jean Sibelius, the most famous of Finnish composers, Hameenlinna is full of historical sights, while surrounded by the lush nature of its its lake system. The town's landmark is the mediaeval castle and the "Kansallinen Kaupunkipuisto" National Urban Park, encompassing part of the city and the shores of lake Vanajavesi. Hameenlinna is one of the starting points for cruises on the Silja Line vessels which sail to Tampere (one day) and the popular tourist centre of Aulanko (one hour).
The "Central Park of Finland", Aulanko is a unique historic leisure and nature park founded by Colonel Hugo Standertskjold, who planned an integral manor and park system without peer in Finland. The unique park area, with the glittering waters of Lake Vanajavesi and the backdrop of wild woods, has attracted visitors for several generations, from heads of states to Alfred Hitchcock. The beauty of Aulanko also inspired Jean Sibelius as a young composer and a number of Finnish film classics were shot here. Today, Aulanko Park comprises hotels, restaurants, conference facilities, a nature reserve, a spa and a vintage nine hole golf course, built in 1938 and to be extended to 27 holes in 2006.
