Built (1904) + Cabell B. Robinson  (1991) & Total renovation (2013) - 18 holes - 6,595 yds - Par 72 - SSS 74,6  - Slope 143

Founded in 1904, the Golf Evian is the talented marriage of an exceptional setting and a great technical design. Totally renovated and restyled by Cabell B. Robinson in 1991, in association with Robert Trent Jones Junior, the course was laid out on steep mountain slopes and through mature parkland, while enjoying unforgettable views over Lake Geneva. The diversity of the layout and the beauty of the scenery will provide an exiting round of golf to golfers of all abilities.

Legendary, the 18-hole (Par 72 – 6 595 yards) of the Evian Resort Golf Club is unrivalled. After having done the delight of the best ladies players in the world during the now well known Evian Masters competition, it is now entering the legend of the Majors, 18 years after his launch in 1994. and The Evian Championship took place in Evian from September 11th to 14th, 2014.

Totally renovated after 9 months of titanic work, the new course has reopen on July 1st, 2013, ready to take its place in Majors' history. This one reveal itself as more spectacular, strategic and unique, with its own signature style. The Evian Resort Golf Course has a total par of 71 (6.428 yards). All the tees have been remodeled and they are now firmer and more technical, with a larger surface area allowing six flag positions. They are defended by numerous, more ambitious obstacles, in particular newly created or enlarged water hazards and a large number of deeper bunkers repositioned across the course.

The Evian Puzzle is the name given to the new heart of the course, the crucial run-in from the 15th to the 18th, where everything will be decided! This area, which is situated in front of the Club House, offers a series of hillocks with a unique point of view on play, thus ensuring none of the final drama is lost. The signature hole of this new-look course will be the 5th, a blind par 4 now a par 3 with an island green and a 100 yard long water hazard to be negotiated.

Set in an ancient 16th. century farmhouse, the beautiful clubhouse has a fine restaurant with a panoramic terrace overlooking the golf course and the lake beyond. The Golf Stages offer a wide range of tuition for all levels and ages, from an intensive five day to a short week end program or an on-course teaching training for advanced players.

This important renovation project was guided by a very thorough environmental approach. The aim of the Evian Resort is to obtain an eco-label like the one already assigned to the Academy.

FRANCE

• Domaine de Divonne

M. Nakowski + Donald Harradine (1931)

Vntage golf course considered as one of the most beautiful and traditional layouts in France. Built in 1931 by Nakowski, the course has undergone numerous transformations over its existence, in particular the works of Donald Harradine in 1963 who contributed to enhance the original design. Laid out over the estate's gently rolling parkland grounds, the fairways stretch between majestic age old trees and natural pounds, with glimpse of Lake Geneva and the Alps. From Floyd, Palmer and Ballesteros to Els recently, they all took the challenge of every holes and all left Divonne with the promise to come back.

• Megève Mont d'Arbois Golf Club

Henry Cotton (1922)

On the Mont d'Arbois slopes, at over 1,300 metres (4,300 ft.) at the outskirts of the charming and exclusive mountain resort of Megeve, the Domaine du Mont d'Arbois enjoys a privileged situation in a beautiful Alpine setting. Founded back in 1922 by the Baroness Maurice de Rothschild, the golf course featured only nine holes at that time, designed by Francois Parodi. Later on, the Baroness, an enthusiast golfer herself, entrusted famous English architect Sir Henry Cotton to extend and restyle the layout to a full eighteen hole course, which was inaugurated in 1962. Cotton's design made the most of the natural relief and vegetation of the mountainous terrain, the layout blending harmoniously with the slopes of the Mont d'Arbois. The narrow fairways rise in tiers on both side of the clubhouse with smooth inclines, offering splendid views over the surroundings mountains and the Mont Blanc range in the distance.

• Chamonix Golf Club

Robert Trent Jones Sr. (1935)

The Chamonix Golf Club is situated in an exceptional site at the bottom of the Chamonix valley, dominated by the impressive Mont Blanc mountain range, culminating at 4,807 metres (15,770 ft.) and Europe's highest peak. The creation of the orginal 9 hole course dates back to the 1935, but it was not until 1982 that Chamonix would be extended to a full eighteen hole course and totally restyled by Robert Trent Jones Senior. At an altitude of 1,050 metres, the air is thin and crisp, but the only think mountainous about this course is the landscape and altitude as it lies totally flat at the bottom of the valley. Crossed by several crystal clear streams and the gushing Arve river, rushing from the nearby glaciers on its way to Geneva, the layout features narrow fairways lined by tall fir and birch trees.
