Voted the "Best New Canadian Golf Course" by Golf Digest in 2001, the Graham Cooke designed course at Fox Harb`r is a magnificent blend of Scottish links and parkland golf. The outward nine runs away from the sea deep into sheltered forests, wetlands and lakes. Winding amidst tall spruce and sculptured terrain, each hole commands its own unique setting and signature. • Northumberland Links
Bill Robinson (1985) 18 holes - 6,160 yds - Par 72 - Slope 129
Located on the scenic shores of the Northumberland Strait, Northumberland Links is a Scottish links-style course. Designed by Bill Robinson, the layout offers you views of the sea from 16 holes and a view of all three Maritime provinces. Known for its excellent condition, natural fescue and spectacular scenery, Northumberland's true test is on its championship greens. The smooth, slick greens offer a variety of putts as well as many options for the approach shot.
• Truro Golf Club
C.E. Robinson (1903) 18 holes - Par 71 - 6,342 yds - Slope 121
In the heart of central Nova Scotia lies a classic golf challenge, The Truro Golf Club. Established in 1903, this traditional well manicured course offers an enjoyable layout with plenty of challenges
• Amherst Golf Club
Fred Richwood (1909) + Robbie Robinson (1967) 18 holes - Par 71 - 6,380 yds - Slope 126
The Amherst Golf Club is an open course that affords many beautiful views, but offers little protection from the high winds that sometimes whistle across the marsh from the Northumberland Strait. The first Amherst course was located in West Amherst back in 1909. The club moved to East Amherst as a tight nine hole layout. Both courses were designed by Fred Richwood who worked for many years with the famous Harry Vardon in England. As a centennial project, in 1967 the course was expanded by Robbie Robinson to an 18-hole championship layout. In 1971, a new clubhouse was completed. Today the course boasts fast greens and very lush fairways which can be found in immaculate condition.
Connected to the mainland by a narrow isthmus, Nova Scotia is a 350 mi. (560 km) peninsula on the east of Canada. The rugged and jagged coastline and numerous rivers and lakes makes Nova Scotia a water paradise famed for its seafood (the province is the world's largest lobster exporter) and a favourite touristic destination for its scenic routes, nature preserves, dolphin and whale watching and Scottish flavour.
The island has a mixed history with French, Scottish and British colonies. Nova Scotia was home to the Mi'kmaq tribes when French colonists established Port Royal in 1605, the first European settlement north of Florida. Almost one hundred and fifty years later, the first English settlers arrived and founded Halifax in 1749 and deported the French speaking population to Quebec and resettled their colonies. The large Scottish immigration started in 1773 but despite the diversity of its cultural heritage, Nova Scotia’s tourism efforts today are focused primarily on the Scottish heritage.
