A short drive north-east of Puerto Vallarta, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita enjoys a stunning location on a 1,500 acre spear shaped peninsula closing the northern tip of Banderas Bay. Accommodation comprises 173 guestrooms and suites distributed between tile-roofed Mexican Casitas set along the coast. Most open to superb vistas of the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean and all are superbly appointed and colourfully decorated with touches of local handicraft.

Four Seasons Resort's flagship restaurant, Aramara, features a Chino-Latino cuisine, a melting pot of Latin America and Asian flavours. The restaurant has a terrace overlooking the ocean and a lively bar with daily live music. Aramara is complemented by the Bahía beachfront grill, Ketsi casual restaurant covered by a huge thatched roof with breathtaking ocean vistas, the Lobby Lounge, with 180º view of the Pacific Ocean, and the Clubhouse's  Tail of the Whale.

At the Tamai Pool Complex, the Pool Bar offers creative food and beverage menus. The Pool Complex combines two main pools and two whirlpools. The infinity edge and the shaded pool feature soothing music playing both above and under the water. These are complemented by Poolside Cabanas offering a secluded retreat for up to four guests each. Surrounded by soaring walls and cascading water, and grouped around a plunge pool and sunning area, each cabana features contemporary wood furnishings and most of the amenities found in guestrooms.

Sports and wellness facilities include the Apuane Spa, Peter Burshaw International Tennis Centre, Four Sesons’ own 55 ft. yacht charter and two Jack Nicklaus signature golf courses. Punta Mita’s Pacfico Course is an astonishing 19-hole course featuring eight holes along the ocean and a memorable 19th Hole, an optional par-3 played from a mainland tee to a natural island green in the Pacific.

Players can sample yet another Nicklaus signature course at neighbouring Vista Vallarta in Puerto Vallarta is no longer just a lazy resort town. The opening of Vista Vallarta’s two championship Weiskopf and Nicklaus Courses, venue of the 2002 World Cup, have turned the place into a new major golf destination.

Optional 19th par-3 hole

Punta Mita’s Jack Nicklaus Signature Course is an astonishing 19-hole course featuring eight holes along the ocean, with dramatic Pacific and Sierra Madre vistas. As a seaside course, wind is a major playing factor at Pacifico. Its memorable 19th Hole, an optional par-3 called the Tail of the Whale, plays from a mainland tee to a natural island green in the Pacific reachable by land when the tide is out.

In contrast to the Pacifico course, Bahia Golf Course presents greater elevation changes and more undulating fairways and greens, stressing putting as an important part of the playing experience. While the Resort's beautiful grounds provides a splendid backdrop for the entire course, one of the most stunning hole has a downhill approach with a panoramic view of Bahía de Banderas, while another unique hole nestles on the beach right in front of El Faro famed surf spot.

Opened April 2001 the first course at Vista Vallarta is a Signature Design by Jack Nicklaus. Since this course is located on the properties highest elevation, golfers are treated not only to world class golf but will enjoy breathtaking views of Puerto Vallarta, the Marina and Banderas Bay as well. Grassy hillsides, dense forest of Palm and giant Ficas trees, natural creeks and arroyos provide the perfect setting for this world class course by the world's greatest player.

Opened a few months later, this Tom Weiskopf Design provides Vista Vallarta with a dramatic contrast from its first course. Built on the properties lower west end, golfers won't believe they have simply taken a different turn the club house.Here the terrain is extreme with dense jungles, deep ravines and swift creeks. Mr. Weiskopf has done a masterful job of blending the elevations and natural features into an incredibly playable experience... from the first tee to the green of the "driveable" 18th.

 

El Tigre Golf & Country Club at Paradise Village

Presided by an mock Mayan Temple toweering stone archay gurading the entrance, the golf course at Paradise Village is set amdist lush landscaped grounds in a tropical setting. The course is laid out in two large returning nines lined with luxury residential unutis, but the fairways are wide enough for the housing to become intrusive. The course feature plenty of water, with hazards on no less than twelve holes, and three huge threatening beach bunkers. El Tigre features a small zoo home to rescued Bengal Tigers, henci its name, and a specatuclar Mayan style clubhouse with spa, one of the most palatial in Mexico.
